The quick answer

What is Pangram Image?

Pangram Image is Pangram Labs’ image detection product. On November 4, 2026, the company released Image 1.0 and Image Flash 1.0.

PangramImage.com is a separate, independent tool. Here you can read C2PA content credentials, look for AI metadata, and run a pixel-level AI scan. This site does not run Pangram’s models.

Three ways to inspect one image

Read what the file declares. Check what its metadata reveals. Scan the pixels when those clues are missing.

Read content credentials

Check for C2PA provenance, signing information and declarations of AI use. A credential records what was declared; its absence does not prove a photo is authentic.

Look for AI metadata

Inspect embedded software tags and other AI markers without uploading the file. These clues can disappear when an image is edited, exported or shared.

Scan beyond the metadata

Pixel scans look for visual traces of generation, even in screenshots and compressed social images. The report returns AI likelihood and, when available, possible generator families.

Read the evidence, not just a score

Each signal answers a different question. Use them together.

A credential declares AI

Read the declaration and its validation details. It documents an AI-related step, not necessarily every edit to the whole image.

Pixels suggest AI

A scan can flag AI signals even without credentials. Treat the likelihood and family labels as estimates, then compare with the source.

No signals found

Screenshots and social platforms often remove provenance. Nothing found does not mean the image is a real photograph.

The signals disagree

Mixed edits and incomplete provenance can produce conflicting clues. Find the original and cross-check before reaching a conclusion.

From image to a better-informed decision

  1. 01

    Start with the original

Use the original JPG, PNG or WebP when possible. Avoid extra screenshots or re-exports that can strip useful clues.

  2. 02

    Read the free checks

Choose an image and inspect credentials and metadata in your browser. No account or upload is needed for this step.

  3. 03

    Scan if you need more

If the free checks are empty or inconclusive, sign in and run a pixel scan for 5 credits. New accounts start with 10.

  4. 04

    Cross-check the source

Compare the findings with the original publisher, context and another detector when the result matters.

Before sharing a news image

Check a striking photo before reposting it. Compare any signals with the original reporting and source.

Profiles and resale photos

Look for AI signals in dating profiles or secondhand product photos before starting a conversation or deal.

Rentals and shop listings

Inspect polished property and product images, then verify them against the listing and seller’s other evidence.

Images in coursework

Use provenance and scan findings to guide a discussion about image sources, rather than treating a score as proof.

Questions about Pangram Image and this checker

Is this Pangram’s official image detector?

No. PangramImage.com is an independent tool. Pangram Image 1.0 is available at pangram.com; this site does not run Pangram’s models.

Is the Pangram image detector free?

Pangram’s listed subscriptions start at $20/month, and its Image 1.0 API costs $0.25 per image. Here, credential and metadata checks are free, new accounts receive 10 free credits, and pixel scans cost 5 credits per image.

Which model runs the AI scan here?

This site provides its own independent pixel-level AI scan. It is not Pangram Image 1.0 or Image Flash 1.0. The report shows AI likelihood and possible generator families when available.

What does an AI image detector look for?

Different checks look at different evidence: content credentials can declare an image’s origin or editing history, metadata can contain software tags, and pixel scans look for visual traces associated with AI generation.

If nothing is found, is the image real?

No. Credentials and metadata can be removed, and a pixel scan can miss AI content. No signals found means no signals were detected by that check, not that the image is a genuine photograph.

Does it work on screenshots and compressed social media images?

Yes, you can scan supported screenshots and compressed images. Pixel analysis does not require embedded metadata, but cropping, resizing and compression can affect the result. Use the original when possible.

Can it detect AI videos?

This site currently checks images only and does not offer video detection or a public API. Pangram’s own product supports video analysis with Image Flash 1.0; see pangram.com for that service.

Are my images stored?

Free credential and metadata checks run in your browser without uploading the file. A pixel scan sends the image to the detection service and creates a scan record in your account history. The current history interface is for viewing results and has no delete button.

Which AI generators can it recognize?

When relevant signals are returned, the report may name families such as GPT Image, Nano Banana / Imagen, Midjourney, Flux, Stable Diffusion, Adobe Firefly or Seedream. These are possible family matches, not proof of an exact model or version.
